TORRINGTON, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Department of Corrections says an inmate at the medium-security prison in Torrington has died after a lengthy illness.

Department officials say 55-year-old Donald Eugene Slater died Thursday, and an autopsy has been ordered.

Slater, who was originally sentenced in January 1984, was serving consecutive terms of 10 years to life for attempted second-degree murder out of Lincoln County. He also was serving three to five years on an escape charge out of Laramie County.
