MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - A Canton man convicted of killing another man at a now-closed Marietta bar has been sentenced to life without parole plus an additional 15 years.

The Marietta Daily Journal (https://bit.ly/1zQ1phV ) reports a Cobb Superior Court judge sentenced 43-year-old Dennis Lee Hampton Thursday. Hampton was found guilty of the 2013 shooting death of 34-year-old Takilam Terrell in March.

Police say Terrell was arguing with his girlfriend when Dennis Lee Hampton’s cousin, Joseph Hampton, involved himself in the dispute. Dennis Lee Hampton also became involved in the argument and shot Terrell.

Cobb District Attorney’s office spokeswoman Kim Isaza says Hampton addressed the court and maintained his innocence during the sentencing hearing.

Charges are still pending against Joseph Hampton and his wife, Trina Lesley Chatman.
