ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Asheville police are looking for a suspect they say robbed a grocery store with a gun and got away with $15,000.

The Asheville Citizen-Times (https://avlne.ws/1EfV4sq) reports a masked suspect robbed the Ingles store in Arden Wednesday night. Police say nearly a dozen people in the store witnessed the crime. The masked suspect was armed with a pistol and fired at least one shot. No one was hurt.

An Asheville police spokeswoman says evidence shows the gun was accidentally discharged into the store’s counter while the suspect was attempting to rifle through the register.

An investigation report says the suspect fled with $15,000 in cash.

Witnesses were unable to provide a good description of the man who left in a Toyota 4Runner, possibly with a South Carolina tag.
