CARY, N.C. (AP) - Cary police say charges won’t be filed after a 9-year-old boy riding his bicycle with his father was struck by an SUV and later died.

WTVD-TV (https://abc11.tv/1IlB8Lf ) reports Paul Pham Dang was hit Tuesday evening by a vehicle in the Chatham Estates Mobile Park. The child, his father and three friends were crossing the street when the child was struck by a black Mazda Crossover making a turn. Dang was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh where he died.

Police say after investigating, they have determined the boy’s death was simply a terrible accident. Police haven’t released the name of the SUV’s driver.

The boy’s father and the other children weren’t injured.

Dang was a third grader at Mills Park Elementary.
