PELHAM, N.H. (AP) - Officials have ruled the death of an off-duty Nashua police officer at a cookout party an accident.

Keith Trombley, a two-year veteran of the force, died Wednesday night after crashing the bicycle he rode down a flight of stairs in the home of a fellow officer. The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. at a single-family home about 200 yards east of the Hudson-Pelham town line.

The 25-year-old was taken to an area hospital, but was pronounced dead.

Assistant Attorney General Jane Young tells the Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1cdy8m9 ) an autopsy performed Thursday at the state Medical Examiner’s office determined that Trombley died of “blunt head trauma” and that his death was ruled an accident.

Young says the attorney general’s office has closed their investigation following the medical examiner’s findings.
