PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Police say a 16-month-old Pawtucket boy has died after being struck by his father’s car in their driveway.

Pawtucket police say they were notified of his death by the medical examiner’s office on Friday.

Maxwell Teixeira was critically injured Tuesday when his father backed the car out of the family’s driveway on Main Street and hit him.

Teixeira’s grandmother, Rosa Baptista, had said the toddler went behind the vehicle.

Police say it was an accident and no charges will be filed.
