VIRGINIA, Minn. (AP) - Police say a northern Minnesota man has been arrested after he was involved in an altercation that left another man dead.

Virginia Police Chief Dennis Benz told The Mesabi Daily News (https://bit.ly/1DVztUQ ) on Thursday that authorities responded to a medical call the night before and found a 59-year-old man dead at the scene.

Benz says a 39-year-old suspect fled but was later arrested on suspicion of second-degree homicide. The newspaper reports the man was being held in the St. Louis County Jail.

Authorities say the public is not at risk.

The men’s names were not released, and no further details were immediately available. An investigation is ongoing.
