BARABOO, Wis. (AP) - Police say a Sauk County woman buried her newborn child that died during childbirth in her family’s yard five years ago.

Baraboo Police Chief Mark Schauf says 33-year-old Brenda Bomstein didn’t notify any proper authority that the infant had died, and she was arrested Tuesday. According to online court records, she made an initial court appearance Thursday on a charge of concealing the death of a child, and bond was set at $10,000.

Schauf says police got a tip Tuesday that the child was buried at Blackhawk Manor mobile home park in Baraboo. According to authorities, a cadaver dog was used to find the remains, which were dug up.

A message seeking comment was sent to a public defender listed in court records as representing Bomstein.
