STAFFORD, Va. (AP) - A female prisoner who escaped by slipping past a sleeping guard will remain in jail for at least another week.

The Free Lance-Star reports (https://bit.ly/1IlSLub ) a Stafford judge on Wednesday granted 48-year-old Catherine Winters Roscoe bond, which the prosecutor appealed.

Roscoe faces several charges. Court record shows she was arrested April 22 and charged with filing a false police report. Once in the Rappahannock jail, Roscoe complained of heart problems and was taken to Stafford Hospital. It is at the hospital where she made her escape.

Police soon tracked her to a county motel, where she checked in under another name. Police say they found Roscoe in a bathroom, where a roll of toilet paper had caught fire. Roscoe is charged with misdemeanor escape, destruction of property, and attempted arson.
