RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man will spend 25 years in prison for raping a woman while she was housesitting for a friend and later trying to have her killed.

Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1RjIOjB ) says Parick O’Sullivan’s victim addressed the court at his sentencing Thursday. She said she would walk out of the courtroom and not look back. She vowed to “triumph over adversity.”

The 23-year-old East Moriches defendant pleaded guilty in February to first-degree rape and other charges.

He broke into the house on Nov. 20, 2012, and tied her up, cut her clothes off and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint before fleeing.

The victim, still bound, called 911 with her tongue.

O’Sullivan was arrested 10 days later. Authorities say three months later O’Sullivan offered $10,000 to another inmate to have her killed.
