PHILADELPHIA (AP) - An armed robbery suspect who escaped from custody while handcuffed in west Philadelphia has turned himself in.

Authorities say the 17-year-old surrendered to detectives just after midnight Friday. Police say he’ll face robbery and escape charges.

The boy was being transported to a police station when he fled Wednesday.

The teen was wanted in three February armed robberies when investigators caught up with him in Florida. Authorities say private contractors hired to take the boy back to the city were driving to a police station when their car came to an intersection. That’s when the teen jumped out and fled.

Police say he dashed into an alley and ran away from the contractors.
