YORK, Pa. (AP) - Three teen-aged girls are facing charges in connection with a fire that damaged several homes in south-central Pennsylvania.

York City Police said Friday that the girls were taken to a detention center and charged with arson, reckless endangerment and other counts.

Their ages are 14, 15 and 17. A hearing was scheduled for next week. Police Lt. Troy Bankert tells the York Dispatch that the girls intentionally set the fire.

Monday’s fire damaged at least five homes and displaced 11 people. Fire officials say it was set inside a vacant home and spread to adjoining houses on both sides.

Firefighters fought the blaze for two hours and estimated the damage at $200,000.
