KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Todd Dooley is leaving his role as Tennessee’s associate athletic director for compliance to take another position within the university.

Tennessee athletic department spokesman Jimmy Stanton confirmed the move Friday. The Knoxville News-Sentinel first reported Dooley had stepped down and said he was joining Tennessee’s human resources department.

Athletic director Dave Hart said in a statement that Dooley “is excited about this new opportunity, and we are excited for him.” Hart added that Dooley “is remaining a part of the Tennessee family in his new role.”

Hart said he was appreciative of Dooley’s service and indicated the university would begin a national search for Dooley’s replacement immediately.

Dooley has worked as a full-time employee at Tennessee since 2000.
