RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A late-spring storm could dump up to a foot of snow on parts of western South Dakota this weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the west Saturday afternoon through Sunday.

Forecasters say rain is expected to turn to snow late Saturday, with moderate to heavy accumulations possible. They say 6-12 inches of heavy, wet snow combined with falling temperatures could make calves and lambs vulnerable to hypothermia. Travel also could become hazardous.
