LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles officials are offering a grocery store gift card worth up to $200 to anyone who turns in firearms during Saturday’s no-questions-asked gun buyback.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1DYzXcF ) authorities are collecting guns until 2 p.m. at the parking lot at 2379 West Washington Boulevard in West LA and at the Masonic Temple at 14750 Sherman Way in Van Nuys.

Handguns, shotguns and rifles will draw up to $100 in a Ralph’s gift card while card supplies last. Assault weapons will be worth up to $200.

Officials say the weapons should arrive unloaded and left in the trunk of a vehicle.

The buyback is part of Mayor Eric Garcetti’s gang reduction initiative.

City officials say more than 13,000 guns have been turned in since the initiative started in 2009.
