FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A Colorado State University student who died last summer from a suspected lightning strike is getting a posthumous degree.

The CSU Board of Governors voted Friday to approve a posthumous degree for Michael Habel.

Habel had enough credits to graduate with a bachelor’s degree when he died as a junior.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan (https://tinyurl.com/ohuqqzy ), his mother, Karen Habel, says the posthumous degree will give the family a bit of closure.

CSU’s College of Engineering graduation ceremony will take place on May 15.
