SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Officials in southwest Florida are investigating after an inmate was found dead in his jail cell.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old David Washer collapsed as he prepared to eat breakfast just after 6 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies said the inmate appeared to be having a seizure. Nurses performed CPR and Washer was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office says no foul play is suspected.

The Herald-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1Iop77J ) Washer was jailed on a misdemeanor battery charge.
