CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A man has been arrested on charges that he left a child in a hot car in Charleston.

Charleston police say 23-year-old Anthony Dallas Scaggs was arrested Friday.

South Central Regional Jail records show Scaggs was held on $5,000 bond Saturday on a felony charge of child neglect with injury. The records didn’t list an attorney or a hometown for Scaggs, although media outlets report he lives in Jackson County.

Police say a shopper at the Charleston Town Center mall noticed the child in the car with the windows closed Thursday. Police say the 2-year old was left inside for more than an hour.

The high temperature reached 90 degrees in Charleston on Thursday.
