GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Greensboro police say a 42-year-old man has been charged with stealing money from coin-operated vacuum cleaners at carwashes.

A news release from police says that James Anthony Kendricks is charged with seven counts of felony safecracking along with misdemeanor counts of property damage and breaking into a coin-operated device.

Several machines were located at Classic Carwash and several were at Black Dog Car Wash.

The release says he is also likely to face charges for eight similar crimes dating back to late April.

The Guilford County Jail says he was being held Saturday.

A message left at the police department Saturday asking whether Kendricks has an attorney wasn’t immediately returned.
