YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - Former Ohio State football star Maurice Clarett will talk about his life experiences after getting out of prison, at the upcoming Hope Conference at Youngstown State University.

The Vindicator newspaper (https://bit.ly/1zq80K1 ) reports that university president Jim Tressel, Clarett’s former coach, also will speak at the May 13 event. It will bring together several social-service agencies that help those coming from prison get adjusted to a new life.

Mary Ann Kochalko, chief operating officer of One Stop in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties, says such events are needed because a large number of people who use the program have criminal records.

Clarett was a running back for the 2002 national champions, but off-the-field problems kept him from NFL success. He served prison time for a holdup outside a Columbus bar.
