DREXEL HILL, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a car being driven by a Philadelphia-area man went out of control and crashed into his garage, killing his 17-year-old son.

Police in Upper Darby said the accident happened at about 8:30 p.m. Friday in Drexel Hill.

They said the man was driving on the road in front of the house when the car went out of control and slammed into the garage. The youth was inside the garage and was struck by the vehicle.

The name of the teenager wasn’t immediately released. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Police called it “a tragedy” on the department’s Facebook page, where Upper Darby Mayor Thomas Micozzie offered his “deepest sympathy and prayers” to the family.
