DODGE CITY, Kan. (AP) - Forecasters are warning residents of a large swath of western Kansas that conditions are favorable for tornadoes.

The National Weather Service issued tornado watches Saturday for two dozen counties. Flood warnings also have been issued for the Little Blue River near Barnes and the Big Blue River near Marysville in the northern part of the state.

Forecasters say tornadoes and large hail also are possible in western Colorado, a large part of Oklahoma and northern Texas.

Earlier this week a strong storm system churned up several tornadoes in Kansas, including one that damaged some homes near the tiny town of Republic just south of the Nebraska state line.
