ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - A blood drive and organ donor registry push is kicking off at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
The fifth annual “Be a Hero at the Big House” will be held Sunday and is open to the public.
It is part of the Blood Battle and Marrow Matchup fall challenges between the University of Michigan and Ohio State heading into the Nov. 28 rivalry football game between the schools.
Each school tries to best the other in blood drive donations and donor registrations on a bone marrow registry. More than 30 blood drives have been scheduled around the Michigan campus through Nov. 26.
Last year, more than 340 pints of blood were collected.
