ABSECON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man who crashed a car on a southern New Jersey highway stole the minivan of a good Samaritan who stopped to help him.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. Sunday in a westbound lane of Route 30 in Absecon.

Police say the car struck another vehicle near Delilah Road and then hit a concrete barrier. The accident left the car disabled in a lane of the highway.

When the minivan driver stopped to provide assistance, the man who had been driving the car jumped into the minivan and sped off. He was last seen headed toward Pleasantville.

It’s not known if the man was injured in the crash.
