ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The city of Ann Arbor is investigating complaints of nuisance activity such as loud partying and drunken behavior at a University of Michigan fraternity house.

The Ann Arbor News reports (https://bit.ly/1HJTzoz ) City Council directed the city attorney to look into the reported problems at the Alpha Sigma Phi house.

Alpha Sigma Phi President Tom Allen denies that the fraternity is a nuisance, saying it’s “an asset to this community.” He says an investigation by the city attorney’s office is unwarranted.

Councilmember Stephen Kunselman brought forward a resolution last week that passed requesting the investigation. He says it’s “an opportunity for this body to actually say enough is enough with the party culture that has gotten out of control in our community.”

A report to City Council is expected in January.
