LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of fatally shooting a man in a residential area of Long Beach.

Authorities set up a perimeter and called in SWAT officers to search several square blocks after the shooting Tuesday night near MacArthur Park.

The manhunt was called off around dawn Wednesday but the suspect was arrested later in the morning, according to police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona. The boy’s name was not released because of his age. He faces charges including murder with a gang enhancement.

Responding officers found 26-year-old Jeffrey Keo suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died.

Keo’s distraught father arrived at the scene early Wednesday and urged the gunman to turn himself in.

Authorities say Keo was not involved with gangs.
