MODESTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities arrested a young couple in connection with the fatally shooting of a teen who is the son of a Northern California city crime commissioner.

KNTV reports (https://bit.ly/1LbRsd9 ) Thursday that police say 20-year-old James Cruz and 19-year-old Gisela Rodriguez were arrested in Modesto Wednesday, where they were wanted for questioning in the death of 19-year-old Aaron Malave.

After Malave was killed in February, police say he was driven to a hospital teen girl and an adult man. It was not immediately clear if those two are Rodriguez and Cruz.

Malave is the son of Ivonne Malave, who served on the Mayor’s Commission on Crime in Fairfield.

Sgt. Matt Bloesch says Cruz was arrested for one count of murder, and Rodriguez for one count of being an accessory to murder. It was not immediately known Thursday if the two have lawyers.
