ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) - DuPage County has agreed to renew an agreement that sends its youth detainees to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1SlU7GN ) that DuPage board members on Tuesday approved another four-year agreement with Kane County. The first agreement was approved four years ago after DuPage County decided to close its youth home.

Officials say DuPage County has paid Kane County about $4.5 million over the past four years but saved $10 million because of the arrangement.

Under the agreement Kane County provides at least 24 beds for DuPage youth detainees for $120 per child per day. If there are more than 24 detainees they are sent to Will County.
