TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) - A team of firefighters and animal control officers has rescued a dog from a 25-foot deep well in Taunton.

The Taunton Daily Gazette (https://bit.ly/1MZ5lmD ) reports that emergency responders were dispatched to a home at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after the homeowner reported that his goldendoodle named Buddy had fallen into the well.

Fire Lt. Tom Bernier says Buddy was found in the well in a foot of water and appeared to be unhurt.

Firefighters used harnesses, rope and an extension ladder to help bring Buddy to safety.

Bernier says the well was secured by an old piece of wood, which had rotted.

Bernier advises property owners to make sure unused wells are properly sealed.
