MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - An administrative hearing for a white Memphis policeman who fatally shot a black teenager has been postponed.

Memphis police say in an emailed statement Officer Connor Schilling is unavailable for the Friday hearing because he is out sick.

During a demonstration Tuesday outside the Shelby County courthouse, protesters called for Schilling to resign or be fired. The protest came after a grand jury declined to indict Schilling in the death of 19-year-old Darrius Stewart.

Police say Schilling fatally shot Stewart during a fight at a traffic stop on July 17.

District Attorney Amy Weirich said she recommended charging Schilling with voluntary manslaughter and use of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony. Weirich is seeking a court order to release the investigative file to the public.
