LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville has announced the signings of wing V.J. King and guard Frankie Hughes to the program.

King, a 6-foot-7 guard/forward at Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, Virginia, is ranked in the top 30 by several recruiting services. He averaged 18.5 points and 12.3 rebounds last season and has earned gold medals with Team USA’s U-16 team at the 2013 FIBA Americas championship and the 2014 U-17 squad at the World Championships.

Cardinals coach Rick Pitino said Thursday in a statement, King is “exactly what we want. We think he has an unbelievable future.”

Hughes averaged 17 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists last season at Garfield Heights (Ohio) High School, where Cardinals fifth-year guard Trey Lewis also played. The 6-3 Hughes had considered Wisconsin, Florida State and Minnesota.
