LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man who allegedly stabbed a passenger to death on a bus in South Los Angeles has been charged with murder.

Prosecutors say 43-year-old Allan Milton of Glendale was charged Thursday with murder and a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon.

He was arrested Tuesday and remains jailed. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.

Authorities say Milton was on a Los Angeles County Metro bus Monday night when he got into an argument with a passenger he apparently didn’t know and stabbed him.

Phillip Melendez of Los Angeles died at the scene.

The bus stopped and Milton fled but authorities say a camera recorded his image and he was arrested the next day.

If convicted, he could face 26 years to life in prison.
