NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A 27-year-old Newark man has pleaded guilty to charges related to a fatal 2013 shooting that his attorney says was an act of revenge.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/1Pqp8vo ) Ikei Harding entered into a plea deal with prosecutors and admitted to charges of reckless manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon Tuesday in connection with the June 2013 death of 21-year-old Michael Drake.

Harding had also been charged with murder, conspiracy and weapons offenses.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors are recommending a sentence of six years in prison for Harding. He will be sentenced on Dec. 17.

Brooke Barnett, Harding’s attorney, says her client shot Drake after allegedly witnessing him shoot his best friend the day prior.

Barnett say Harding is taking responsibility for his action by pleading guilty.
