GRANITE FALLS, Wash. (AP) - Police say a suspect in the killing of a 31-year-old Granite Falls man may have fled to California.

Detectives in Granite Falls are trying to track down 49-year-old George Hatt Jr. in the death of Andrew Spencer. They say witnesses told them the pair had recently had an altercation because Hatt suspected Spencer of burglarizing his house.

Spencer was last seen alive Nov. 3, and police believe they found his body - shot, burned and buried - on Wednesday, though the remains have been sent to the medical examiner for identification.

Detectives believe Hatt fled with his girlfriend about a week ago to California, where he was already wanted for parole violation.
