MARLIN, Texas (AP) - Two services have been scheduled for a Central Texas police chief who died after being shot while working off-duty security at a bar.

Marlin police Chief Darrell Allen will be remembered at 10 a.m. Saturday during a service at the Marlin High School auditorium. Another service will be Nov. 21 at Greater Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church in Texas City.

Allen died Tuesday after being shot Nov. 1 while working security, at a bar in Temple, while trying to detain a man. Derrick Wayne Gamble was being held Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with bond at $750,000.

Gamble’s attorney, Richard Jeffrey, said Thursday that his client has not been convicted of anything and the investigation is ongoing.

Allen had been Marlin police chief since 2009.
