TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) - Unified police have arrested nine people in connection to a two-month investigation into possible illegal online gambling at an Internet cafe in Taylorsville.

Detective Ken Hansen says the suspects were arrested Wednesday night after a thorough investigation into complaints about gambling and drug use at the business.

Hansen says employees had been involved in “renting time on their computers for customers to gamble. If customers win, they are paid in cash by the store clerk.

Five of those arrested were cited for gambling and released. Another four were arrested for outstanding warrants or drug possession and booked into the Salt Lake County jail.
