PHOENIX (AP) - Denise Olson has been named chief financial officer for the city of Phoenix.

City officials made the announcement Thursday.

Olson has worked for the city since 1995 and recently served five months as acting CFO.

She now will oversee the city’s finance department, a staff of more than 200.

Olson’s credentials include extensive experience with bond sales, overseeing the city’s electronic procurement transition and implementing long-term fiscal strategy and planning.

She holds a master’s degree in public administration with a finance emphasis from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from New Mexico State University.
