WYNNE, Ark. (AP) - A Cross County sheriff’s deputy is under investigation after hitting a drug suspect with a patrol vehicle.

KAIT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Mb1GON ) the Danny Keith Jeffrey was struck by a sheriff’s vehicle early Thursday afternoon as he ran from a deputy in Wynne.

An ambulance transported the suspect to a nearby hospital. He was later taken to the Cross County Jail.

Sheriff J.R. Smith says the suspect has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of meth or cocaine, along with fleeing.

The circumstances that began the police chase are unknown at this time.
