President François Hollande was attending a soccer match when an explosion was heard near Stade de France, the country’s national stadium, north of the city.
Mr. Hollande abandoned the game and convened an emergency meeting after deadly attacks.
The game was a friendly between France and Germany. Play continued.
“There were two really loud bangs and they were enormous. I thought it was coming from inside the stadium but someone told me later that they were grenades thrown outside at a restaurant,” the Telegraph newspaper quoted from an eyewitness.
