TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - Many counties and communities in Northeast Mississippi can expect widespread frost overnight Friday into Saturday morning.

Forecasters say temperatures will drop to near freezing in central and southern counties and to freezing or slightly below in some northern locations near the Alabama and Tennessee borders.

The National Weather Service says Friday night temperatures will be in the low 30s with “widespread frost.”

A weather service forecaster says potted plants would be in danger of damage if not moved indoors.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1H02UxG) the average first frost in Northeast Mississippi is in the first two weeks in November.

The high Saturday is forecast at 60 degrees, with northwest winds, then dropping to about 36 degrees with “patchy frost” overnight into early Sunday morning.
