AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A homeless man has been accused of setting two small fires outside an Austin high-rise.

The Austin-American Statesman reports (https://atxne.ws/1MFzZPG ) 64-year-old Robert Gimbel was charged with arson Wednesday in connection with the fires near a 10-story residential building downtown.

An affidavit says fire investigators responded to the building Tuesday morning after a police officer put out a fire with flames nearly three-feet high.

When the investigators arrived a security officer told them he put out another blaze Sunday. He said he saw Gimbel start that fire.

Gimbel confessed to starting both fires after his arrest. He’s being held at the Travis County Jail on $15,000 bail.

Officials say the fires left burn patterns on the walls and could have spread to the rest of the building.
