KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A man has returned to Knox County after authorities say he was captured in Ohio while fleeing with his 2-year-old daughter.

News outlets report 36-year-old Tyler Enix was booked Friday into the county jail. He’s charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 36-year-old Kimberly Enix.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Tyler Enix and his daughter were found Oct. 29 in Morrow County, Ohio. An Amber Alert was issued in Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio for the child.

Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch said the search began after Kimberly Enix was found dead and the girl missing during a welfare check on Oct. 28.

Investigators said neighbors had seen Tyler Enix leave with the girl before her mother’s body was discovered.

It isn’t clear if he has an attorney.
