ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Rochester say a 32-year-old man is hospitalized with serious injuries after his car crashed into the front of a bar and caught fire.

Officers say William McBride was speeding on Ridge Road around 2:30 a.m. Friday when his car slammed into the front wall of the California Brew Haus, smashing a large window near the entrance. The bar, which hosted several bands Thursday night, closed a half hour before the crash.

Firefighters pulled McBride from the car. Officials say he was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No one else was injured.

Police have charged McBride with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
