LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A Lexington man has been indicted on a murder charge in connection with the death of his mother.

Local media outlets report a Fayette County grand jury also indicted 36-year-old Jack Clemons on charges of tampering with evidence and credit card fraud.

Police say officers found 64-year-old Shirley Clemons’ body on July 14 during a welfare check at her home.

Court documents say her body was wrapped in a blanket and was bound with duct tape. Authorities say her death, which was ruled a homicide, was caused by asphyxiation.

Police say Jack Clemons was seen on surveillance using his mother’s credit card at numerous places.

Authorities say he was later arrested in Kansas by Colorado police after a high-speed chase in his mother’s vehicle that began in Burlington, Colorado.
