PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a 69-year-old hiker found dead on Phoenix’s Lookout Mountain earlier his week likely slipped and fell to his death.

Phoenix police say there are no indications of foul play.

They say the man has been identified, but his name isn’t being released at the request of his family.

Police say hikers found a backpack on Lookout Mountain on Tuesday morning and then spotted a body in the area.

Authorities responded to the scene and the man was pronounced dead by Phoenix Fire Department personnel.

Police say it appears the man had been hiking on a small trail on the mountain when he possibly slipped and fell up to 70 feet to his death.
