HELLERTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Police in northeastern Pennsylvania say a shoeless, handcuffed man is on the loose after escaping during his arrest on a domestic threat charge.

Hellertown police are searching for 21-year-old James Cruciani, Jr. near Interstate 78, just south of Bethlehem.

Police say they arrested him Thursday evening after he threatened someone with a gun. After he was handcuffed, they say he assaulted the officer and took off into thick woods as darkness set in.

He now faces charges including aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, escape and terroristic threats.

Cruciani has dirty blond hair and his last name is tattooed on his chest. He was wearing a dark blue T-shirt and jeans, and lost his shoes as he fled police.

He was last seen west of Route 412 near the I-78 overpass.
