ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) - Vermilion Parish authorities have captured an inmate who escaped from custody while on an outdoor work detail.

The sheriff’s office said in a news release that 26-year-old Carl Robert Striggow, of Abbeville was picked up without incident about 12:30 p.m. Friday and returned to the parish jail. He was last seen Friday about 9:30 a.m. traveling north from the parish jail while shirtless and wearing jeans.

Sheriff Michael Couvillon says Striggow, who was being held on a simple burglary charge, will face additional charges including simple escape.
