SHARON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont police have arrested a Sharon man on a first-degree murder charge in the death of a man found shot in his car in Brattleboro earlier this week.

Police say they arrested 39-year-old Leonard Moffatt without incident Friday afternoon after police stopped his car on Route 14 in Sharon.

He is charged in the death of 35-year-old Sultan Rashed, whose body was found Monday.

Authorities say they believe the two men knew each other and planned to meet the night before Rashed’s body was found, in the same location where they were scheduled to meet.

Moffatt is in custody at the Southern State Correctional Facility, awaiting arraignment Monday in Windham County Superior Court.

It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
