LEESBURG, Va. (AP) - Loudoun County is helping to collect blankets and children’s winter coats for refugees fleeing violence in Syria.

Loudoun County says that over the past two years it has partnered with other local governments and the non-profit Hizmet Relief to collect more than 40,000 blankets that have been distributed throughout Turkey.

The county says that it will continue to collect new and gently used blankets and children’s coats until Dec. 5. Items can be dropped off at the county government center in Leesburg, Purcellville Town Hall, the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum, the ADAMS Center in Sterling and the Commissioner of Revenue’s office in Sterling.
