PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia man who admitted shaking his crying infant son and throwing him to the floor has been sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison in the child’s death.

Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Miller pleaded guilty in March to third-degree murder and child endangerment in the October 2011 abuse of 7-week-old Lamont, who died almost a year and a half later.

The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1PtftnQ ) reports that Miller apologized in court Friday, saying he had argued with his mother and lost his temper.

Judge Rose Marie DeFino-Nastasi said Miller’s “level of violence is frightening,” and he could never be around children again.

Defense attorney Ronald Greenblatt cited Miller’s troubled childhood and mental illness, saying he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia at age 11 but was fine while on medication.
